Touring on a bicycle is the ideal way to see the world.
It's fast enough to outpace boredom, but slow enough to
absorb the myriad details of the place you're touring.
Being a two wheeled traveler allows us to become part of the environment rather than
rushing through it in a car, train or bus. It allows us to travel to use
all of the senses to experience the exhilaration of the outdoors.
We
are avid recreational cyclists that enjoy
travel, adventure and discovery. In the last 15 years,
we have accomplished this by seeing many parts of the world
on our bicycles. We have ridden on 26 different
domestic and international tours. Bicycle touring has
taken us to places that tourists seldom see when traveling
by train, bus or auto. Riding at 10 miles per hours
gives us the opportunity to travel the back roads and
visit quaint villages that often are the essence of a
country's culture. Our objective as tour leaders is to
share with our fellow cyclist the opportunity to tour places
that offer excellent cycling, comfortable accommodations,
good food and unique cultural experiences.
We have spent a great amount of time, money
and effort planning our trips. We have endeavored to find interesting places to stay
and dine that offer comfort, regional style and a sampling of
the local cuisine. We have driven and rode our bikes over hundreds of miles
roads through the
countryside choosing the most scenic and interesting routes. Our
routes always try to provide participants rides with beautiful scenery,
the opportunity to visit quaint villages, and historical sites. The
rides are designed for physically fit
cyclists that enjoy touring, while having the time to stop and
immerse themselves in the cultural.
As Bicycle Adventure Club leaders, we are unpaid volunteers
that give time and energy to organize and lead bicycle tours
for members of the club. The costs of our European trips are
approximately $200 per day while commercial trips are $500 to
$600 per day.We
cycle in many of the same areas and stay at many of the same
hotels as the commercial trips. In an effort to minimize cost, our BAC trips differ
from a commercial trip in several ways.
